Brain Book: Unit4
UNIT 4 - HOW DOES THE BRAIN REMEMBER?
What is happening in your brain when you remember something?
When you learn or memorize something new, you make new connections between the cells in your brain-the neurons. From then on, the memory is stored in these connections-like a map or path between different thoughts.
Every time you remember something, your brain cells are firing messages over those connections you made in the past. You use different combinations of neurons, and different connections between them, for each memory-the same way you might use one street to get to school, and another one to get to your friend's house.
